The Academy will reopen to students using a staggered approach as detailed below. Students will start and end the Academy day at their normal times. In order to maximise the number of students that we can welcome back safely, we have prioritised the return of Year Groups after considering the rate of positive Coronavirus cases, the number of students self-isolating, and the number of staff available. We have given careful consideration to this phased return in discussion with Public Health and Sandwell Local Authority.
Year 7, 10, and 13 students will return to the Academy from Monday 23rd November.
Year 9 students will return to the Academy from Thursday 26th November.
Year 8, 11, and 12 students will return to the Academy from Monday 30th November.
Students who are working from home will continue to access online learning through Google Classroom, full details can be found here.
Students who are self-isolating must continue to do so, and only return to the Academy from the date advised (providing their Year Group has returned). We’d also like to remind parents/carers that students who develop symptoms of Coronavirus must self-isolate immediately and book a test. Students may not attend the Academy whilst awaiting a test or awaiting the result of a test. Please follow the instructions provided in the email containing the test result, where it is negative, the student must continue their period of self-isolation as initially advised if they had been identified as a contact of somebody who has tested positive or live with anybody who has tested positive.
We have been incredibly proud of how well our students have adapted to, and engaged with, their online learning. Seeing students embodying our values of being ready, respectful, and responsible especially under these circumstances has been a real joy. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the support of parents/carers and the whole Academy community who have made this possible; we sincerely appreciate your support!
